How to enter safe boot mode Empty How to enter safe boot mode

Post  lyh8 Sun Aug 31, 2008 12:04 am

Hello there,

I have been frustrated much because I could not start my ThinkPad T61p into safe mode. Usually, pressing F8 on a tipical Windows PC after BIOS starts would get the machine into boot modes selection window. However, this approach does not work on this machine. I have been searching the internet for the answer, however, there were not any satisfactory answers. Someone says that change Windows boot.ini file, that's not what I like to do. I hope someone here could provide a simple solution, please.

Hello lyh8, I'm not a PC guru, but here is my experience about how to get into safe boot mode on my T61p laptop w/ Windows XP.

1. Pressing F12 repeatedly when ThinkPad window appears until Booting Devices list appears.

2. Press Esc to exit the Booting Devices list window, then immediately press F8 repeatedly until the Boot mode selection window appears.

There you go.
